Earlier today I watched John McCain's concession speech... And I was actually moved at the honesty and dignity and graciousness with which he spoke. He said good things for Obama, true things, and showed a whole other side to himself. He shushed those in the crowd that started booing. I feel that if he had shown this side of his character during those past few months, he would have had such a better chance. I sincerely hope that this McCain collaborates with Obama and helps the new administration.

And many Republicans have been gracious about the election results, discussing things like they are, calmly facing the "morning after". And then, there are those who haven't. There has been much idiocy in the past 24 hours, and most of it is on display for everyone to see, on Facebook. Disappointment is to be expected. And I completely understand those who are sad or angry, and I know that they have their heart in the right place. But I cannot get ridiculous claims like "THE COUNTRY IS DESTROYED! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! SAVE YOURSELVES! GOD HAS ABANDONED US! OBAMA IS THE DEVIL!".

Anyway, I decided I'm not going to become upset at this. Instead, I will treat those comments like they deserve, and LOL to no end. In the comments, I will post some real gems, actual quotes from Facebook statuses and public comments, so you can LOL along with me. And I will ask you to post ridic stuff that YOU have seen today on Facebook, so can we can gather them together and laugh our asses off or stare incredulously at the stupidity.

Also, feel free to pimp this out, so more people can come and bask in the glory of hilarious immaturity!

AND GO!

ps - if you decide to comment with a quote, please leave out the last name of the person!

So this was slightly scary. And hilarious.

I went to sleep quite early last night (for my standards, anyway), and I inexplicably woke up some six hours later. I looked at the clock, and it was a little after 5 in the morning - so naturally my first thought was "OLYMPICS!". I turned the TV on, just in time to catch the 4x100m relay men's final, which was epic. The US won literally by a fingertip, and Michael Phelps proceeded to freak out and go completely nuts. I proceeded to go back to sleep.

Also. This might be photoshopped, but I DON'T CARE. I'm still going to laugh.

And I want to wish a very happy birthday to [info]light_inaugust!! I hope your day is filled with lots of fun and Bale goodness! Here is my contribution: Shirtless Señor, lounging on a Greek island in Captain Corelli's Mandolin. If you haven't watched that, you should, purely for Bale and his lulzy ~Greek~ accent.

Sorry for spamming your f-lists, guys, but I just stumbled upon this. And I laughed so much that I started crying! Rainn Wilson just did an editorial in Entertainment Weekly, on famous heroes of pop culture. There's the Star Trek Captain, Paulie from The Sopranos, and McGuyver. And then there's this:

SHE WAS XENA! A MIGHTY PRINCESS, FORGED IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE!!!

Eurovision 2008 just ended, and it was everything I wanted it to be, and more: at times campy and ridiculous (hello Spain), really fun (Armenia!) and with a few great songs (like the songs from Portugal, Norway and Serbia).

And Greece placed THIRD!! Kaloimoira, our singer, absolutely rocked it. She was fierce, people. GOOOO GREECE!

And the winner was Russia. Which I can't believe because I was laughing hysterically throughout the entire performance. I mean, if the fake violin player and the barefoot thing and the ice skater going in circles around him (how could you, Plushenko?) with hair flowing freely in the wind weren't enough? Dima Bilan (the singer) had to go and RIP HIS SHIRT OPEN at the last chorus.

COME ON.

Remember a month ago, when George W. Bush posed with the Easter bunny? Well, now he's hosting a meeting with the president of Mexico and the PM of Canada, and he couldn't resist celebrating the occasion. So he's dancing it out!

Because I'm in a movies mood, and lists/memes are always fun (at least when you're bored), here are the moives I've seen from the top 250 of imdb.com. Some of the conclusions drawn are: a) I need to watch more Hitchcock, b) A lot of the ones I haven't watched, I already have on DVD (God bless Greek newspapers and their Sunday offers!), and c) When IMDB users are voting, there's no telling what you'll see qualifying as "one of the best movies ever".

TOP 250 at IMDb.com - Bold the ones you've seen.

And since we're on the subject of movies, I feel compelled to share a couple of videos. A couple of days ago I discovered, through [info]ohnotheydidnt, that there's plenty of "re-cut" movie trailers on YouTube. They edit scenes together and put the right music, in order to completely change their genre. First, a trailer of Mary Poppins as a horror movie. This is actually really scary.

And then there's "Must Love Jaws". Yes, it's Jaws, made to look like a romantic comedy/adventure, complete with voice-overs and cheesy ballads. I fell off my chair laughing at about 01.58. Be warned though, this is Jaws, so lots of blood and gore abound!
